Take a Screenshot or Recording

A screenshot shows us what you saw. A recording shows us what happened. Both are built into your device — you do not need any extra software.

Windows

• Screenshot: Win + Shift + S to select an area, or Win + PrtScn to save the whole screen to Pictures › Screenshots.
• Recording: Win + Alt + R starts and stops the Xbox Game Bar recorder. Files land in Videos › Captures.
• On Steam: F12 takes a screenshot; find them under View › Screenshots.

iOS

• Screenshot: press the side button and the volume up button together.
• Recording: add Screen Recording to Control Centre in Settings › Control Centre, then start it from there.

Android

• Screenshot: press the power button and volume down together.
• Recording: open quick settings and use Screen record. The exact name varies by manufacturer.

Sending it to us

Attach the file to your support request. Keep recordings short — ten to twenty seconds around the moment is more useful than several minutes of play.
